Acatenango Pillow Case
Acatenango Pillow Case
Acatenango, part of the Tres Hermanas (Three Sisters), has been dormant since the early 20th century. It remains a very popular hike for tourists since it sits very near Volcán de Fuego which is still very active, usually at a low level. Volcán de Fuego has small gas and ash eruptions almost every 20 minutes, but in 2018 it had a much more severe eruption that took the lives of at least 159 individuals and injured many more. The shades of pink, red, brown, and cream of the Acatenango pillow case are a reflection of the quiet sister that sits so close to this tumultuous neighbor.
