Impact
Through the women circles, we have established close relationships with our artisan partners and we've established a highly reliable, loyal team of weavers that believe in this project as much as we believe in their art. During the time that we have been working together, we have created wonderful and high-quality art pieces that combine ancestral weaving techniques with designs that represent our Mayan culture.
All the weavers who are part of this project work from their homes. They set their own wages and they do their own schedule. We do not accept child labor. We do not discriminate. We are committed to gender equality. Those are things that we offer to all the women who want to be part of this project.
We also support their families through AMA’s projects (Association of the Women of the Highlands). All the women who are part of PIXAN have received a clean-air stove that helps them spend less time cooking. These stoves also keeps their families healthier as they reduce exposure to smoke which frequently causes lung infections. Through the women circles, the weavers also have access to trainings that help them improve the quality of their products and learn more about the weavings and fair-trade process.
Thank YOU for believing in the high-quality weaves and supporting our mission. We keep growing and creating more opportunities for talented weavers from the highlands of our beautiful Guatemala. With your help, we are creating a brighter future while still preserving traditions.
